The Wright Brothers Build the Mysterious Flyer

Since no manufacturers were willing to build an engine to the Wrights' specifications, Wilbur and Orville brothers decided to build one flyer themselves. Somewhat haphazardly, they managed to put together a 4 size gas cylinder, 12 horse power, better gasoline motor engine that weighed more than 100 pounds and less than 200 pounds.

When the wright brothers completed the engine, Wilbur and Orville placed this into their newly built, more than 21-foot long, spruce-and-ash framed Flyer. With the finished product weight in totally 600 pounds, the Wilber and Orville brothers much sure that the motor would be strong enough to lift the air plane.

Now the moment come It was just time to test their new controlled, motorized aircraft.

The December 14, 1903 Test

Wilbur wright and Orville Wright both traveled to Kitty Hawk in 1903 ,September . Different type of Technical difficulties and weather problems and other problems delayed the first test until 14 th December , 1903.

Wilbur and Orville flipped a coin to see who would get to make the first test flight and elder brother Wilbur won. However, there wasn't enough wind on that sunny day, so then the Wright brothers took the Flyer up to a long hill and got flew it. Although it did take flight, it crashed at the end and needed a more than couple of days to repair.

Nothing have definitive was gained from this flight since the Flyer had taken off from a hill.

WORLDS FIRST Flight at Kitty Hawk

On December 17, 1903, Wright brothers Flyer was fixed and ready to go away. On that day The weather was to cold and windy, with reports of winds around 20 to 27 miles at per hour.

The Wright brothers tried to wait until the weather got clear and improved but by 10 a.m. it had not clear , At last tWright brothers decided to drive their first flight anyway.

Wright brothers, plus few several helpers, set up the 60-foot large monorail track that helped to keep the Flyer in line for lift-off. Then younger brother Orville clambered on board to discover a new flight for it was his turn to be pilot.

The biplane, which had a 40-foot 4-inch wingspan, was ready to go. In morning At 10:35 a.m. the wright's Flyer started off with Orville as pilot. Elder Brother Wilbur ran quickly alongside holding onto one wing to help perfect stabilize the plane. Around more than 40 feet along the large track, the Flyer took his first flight, staying in the open air for 12 seconds and traveling on sky 120 feet from the feet.

Wright Brothers had done it. They two had made the world's first flight with a controlled, manned, powered, heavier-than-air aircraft.And the word get their first flight.
