MOTHER TERESA -ANGEL OF MERCY PART- 1

Birth of Angel

Mother Teresa was born in 1990 in skopji in Albania. Daughter of an Albanian Grocer, She was named Agnes Gonxha  Bojaxhiu . At an early  age, young Agnes felt the call to help  others. As a public school student, she developed a special interest in overages missions and helping the poor . When she was eighteen , she went to Ireland to join the sisters of  loretto , a community of Irish nuns . She was inspired to work in India by reports sent from missionaries in  Bengal .After spending six weeks in Irland  she sailed to India  as a teacher .There she took the name ‘Sister Teresa’. After Saint Terasa Of Lisieux , the patroness of missionaries.

 RISING OF A ANGEL

From 1930 to 1948, mother Teresa taught geography and catholic at St. Mary’s High School in Calcutta and became its principal in 1944. The poverty and the little presence of the sick and dying people on the streets of Calcutta deeply moved  her and their pathetic condition touch he heart.

In September 1946,something happened that changed her life forever .Mother Teresa had fallen ill and was suspected to be suffering from tuberculousis. She was sent to Darjeeling to recover. While traveling in a train, she received a calling from god to give up everything that she was doing. She was ordered to follow him to the slums and serve him among  the poorest of the poor .After this incident, she said, ;’I SEE GOD IN EVERY HUMAN BEING. When I was  the laser would , I feel I am nursing the lord himself. Is it  not a beautiful Experience.?

She requested the pope to allow her to leave the order and live as an independent nun.Two years

Later, she received the permission from pope Pius 12.,through the Archbishop of Calcutta. She quit the school and did a short course with the Medical Mission Sisters in Patna.

ANGEL OF CALCUTTA

When she returned  to Calcutta, she stared an open air-school for homeless children. Son her former pupils and other joined her, who wanted to give her a helping  hand. She  also received financial support from the church and the municipal Authorities. In this way she could arrange for dispensaries and outdoor schools.

In October 1950, Teresa received permission from Vatican to start her own order, which came to be known as the ‘Missionaries of Charity’. Mother Teresa proclaimed that it’s mission was to car for ‘the hungry’, the naked ,the homeless ,the crippled, the blind, the lepers  , all those people who feel unwanted ,unloved, uncared for in society and are shunned by everyone.

Mother Teresa found men, women, and children dying on the streets , who were rejected by local hospitals. The group rented a room so that they could car for the helpless people who would otherwise have died a painful earth due to the negligence of society. The municipal authorities gave her a pilgrim hostel on her request, near the sacred temple of kali.

In 1952 . she established Nirmal Hriday , a hospice where the terminally ill could die  with dignity. Her order also opened numerous  centers  serving the blind, the aged, and the disabled. Under Mother Teresa’s guidance, the missionaries of charity built a leper colony, called  Shanti Nagar near Asansol
